A marker sketch
Um, I was just throwing out these leaves and decided to sketch them first while having a lunchtime break. Then, somewhere between the gouda and the Cabernet, I decided to color it. I sketched it out with a pointed water based Pentel and then, rendered it with grays and green Admarkers and Prismacolor markers.

I made my living this way... with markers. It was fun to find the ones that weren't dried up and render the drawing without the stress of a crazy deadline.
I learned to use all three kinds and incorporate them in my comps; the water based, alcohol based and the petroleum based like Admarkers. I still have a set box full of them. Never know when you might need 'em. Besides, you can "rejuvenate" them with a product called, "Goof Off."
Quite a few Facebook friends though it was a real set of eucalyptus leaves because of the use of the drop shadow... I'm flattered by all the nice compliments.
Although I used many kinds of markers to get the effect, I always preferred Admarkers, though not because of its aroma, ha!

That is a totally amazing sketch, Ben! Oh, those markers! Thanks for your comment on my blog. I've abandoned the blog and started an Instagram account. It's much more community-oriented...no one ever commented on my blog (which is why I appreciate that you did!) but Instagram is really fun. Hope you survive all the wild weather the south has been getting and keep up the good work!
